David Admon, ambassador of Israel was our guestIt was a pleasure for us that David Admon, ambassador of Israel was our guest. On the meeting we could show him activity and goals of our foundation.
Tibor Pogácsás, mayor of our town talked about economy of Monor and about development ideas.
We visited the monument of victims of World War II and went to the Jewish cemetery.
As the finish of the visit we previewed cellars of Strázsa-hill and had a good lunch in the cellar of János Bodor grand.master. |

Curatory MeetingThe advisory board talked about tasks of the year 2006. It was decided that we’ll support a poor-fated secondary school student in every year. Students should compete for the support, and the members of an advisory board of our Foundation and the Grammar School will adjudicate the support to a student.
We plan to organize charitable cultural programs in 2006. in order we can execute our goals. |

Curatory MeetingCuratory member Mr George Kugel has delivered a summary of the activities accomplished so far and the subsidies received. Further, he has indicated the tasks to be done in the next future.
Our Fund has received new subsidies as follows:
- Ajtai Minerál Kft. 137 500 Ft.
- B&K Szolgáltató és Kereskedelmi Kft. 200.000 Ft.
Arrangements for the cemetery:
- After the removal of the trees, the area has been cleaned by removing the waste branches. Moreover, during the whole year, the grass has been mown according to actual necessities.
- The gate - damaged during the cut off of the trees - has been repaired.
We have forwarded the Project Study for the construction of the garden to the local City Council.
Our curatory members begin searching for potential subsidy providers as we need financial resources to reach our goals.

Result of competitionWe are pleased that our competition document, presented to Heritage Foundation of Hungarian Jews was successful, we got 150.000 HUF support. Amount of support didn’t reach the amount, requested in the competition document, so goals of this year should be modified, or we must find other financial resources, too. |

Felling of tree in the cemeteryAccording to the reconstruction plans, as the first step we started cutting dry, aged trees being dangerous for graves. Dry twigs from remaining trees have been cut, ivy climbing trunks of the trees have been removed.
We hope replacing of cut trees can be started in autumn. |

Our application has been submittedOur application has been submitted We have submitted our application to the Hungarian Jewish Heritage Foundation for the restoration of the Jewish Cemetery in Monor. To ensure maximum effectiveness in the realisation of this project, we have made some alterations in the plan agreed by the Board.
First phase:
- Geodesy survey (of the current situation)
- Preparation of a horticultural study and plan
- Felling of dead trees endangering the graves; removal of logs
- First phase of abandoned gravestone restoration: sunk and dangerous stones
- Site improvement, surface water draining, soil improvement
Second phase:
- Building of the fence and gate
- Second phase of abandoned gravestone restoration: all damaged ones
- Planting trees
Third phase:
- Building and covering of the section of public road leading to the Cemetery
- Building road inside the Cemetery
- Erecting memorial stones to the victims of the Holocaust
- Reconstruction of the well and its surrounding area, building of a Menorah Fountain
- Placing of an information board with the history of the Monor Jewry and the Cemetery, benches and garbage cans
- Planting hedges, bushes, perennial flowers, lawn renewal
- Festival marking the end of restoration work
The deadline for completing the First phase is 31.12.2005. This will cost the total of HUF 3 635 388, of which we have to cover HUF 1 635 388 on our own.

Meeting of advisory boardAccording to our ideas we declared when the foundation was established, our advisory board decided to perform our plans concerning our cemetery, i.e. to make it clean, ordered and look like a park., in two phases as follows.
Firs phase:
- Geodesic survey (to make a survey of the present situation)
- Make a gardening plan
- Cut the trees, which are dry and dangerous for graves.
- Renovate lone graves (sunk, fallen down…)
- Landscape, find solution of surface drainage
- Build street fence and a gate
- Plant trees, bushes and ornamental plants
Second phase:
- Bild, cover of the road-section leading from the street to the cemetery
- Build the inside road leading to the ornamnetal square
- Renovate the well, create its surroungings
- Make a memorial plaque of victims of Holocaust
- Place an information board (short history of the Jewish of Monor and the cemetery), benches, waste bins
- Organize celebration of the finish of renovation
At the same time we decided to start to collect donations and to present competitions in order we can obtain financial devices, which are necessary to execute our above plans.
